"The Barefoot Fisherman: A fishing book for kids by experienced fishing enthusiast Paul Amdahl is an excellent and "reader friendly" introduction to the sport of fishing for aspiring young anglers of all ages and backgrounds. Individual chapters address catching a variety of different fish from catfish to bass and walleyes, as well as lures, fly-fishing, bait fishing and much more. The Barefoot Fisherman is an enthusiastically recommended "how to" guide for preparing neophyte fishermen on getting the most out of their fishing trip!"

“The Barefoot Fisherman takes kids through a thorough explanation of everything they’ll need to get started fishing-from rods and reels to bobbers and lures. Amdahl then discusses some different secies of game fish and the best strategies for catching them. It’s a book that will enhance the tackle box of any beginning fisherman.”

“I wanted to share a little story with you that expresses my 11-year-old nephew’s enthusiasm for The Barefoot Fisherman. Jimmy’s been an avid fisherman for several years, but not always an avid reader. He struggled with language from the time he began learning to talk, and required speech therapy and intensive coaching in reading. His mom (my sister-in-law) helps by reading with Jimmy every night. Shortly after Christmas, they began reading The Barefoot Fisherman. My sister-in-law tells me that Jimmy’s been enthralled from the first page. A few nights into the book, she had trouble getting Jimmy to come upstairs to bed. After calling to him in vain several times, she peeked down from the upstairs landing to see what he was up to. There he was, at the kitchen table with his tackle box spread out before him and The Barefoot Fisherman open to a section on how to stock it. He was intently checking each item to make sure everything met Paul’s recommendations. Of course, my sis-in-law thought this was adorable and was thrilled to see her son so absorbed with a book. Let Paul know that he’s created a gem!”

“The Barefoot Fisherman is the kind of book every kid should read. Any youngster who can read will be immediately captivated and fascinated with the idea of going fishing. Whatever you do, don't give your boy or girl this book as a gift at Christmas or any other time unless you are willing to follow up on it. The kids will be so eager to try out their new knowledge from reading about going fishing they won't give you a minute of peace until you promise to take him or her fishing.”
